You Are Enough
Updated: Dec 12, 2021
You’re not qualified. What have you overcome? Those two phrases were said to me, and whether it was directed to me or not, lit a fire in me.
I don’t have to believe the doubts and lies that I hear and perceive, will hear, and perceive, and will continue to hear and perceive.
God qualifies me and you and everyone in this world. Although there are things that everyone goes through that they don’t discuss, God sees what we have overcome. Jesus came to set us free from the bondage and showed us unconditional love no matter what our history says about us. That qualifies us all. That is where our identity is found.
We have been given much, and with that comes great responsibility. That should motivate us to stay the course and run the race with endurance until it is finished.
With that, I do acknowledge the arrows that have been shot and stones that have been thrown at me, but it does not define me, nor will it stop me from doing what I have been called and anointed to do. God chose David a young shepherd boy who brought a tiny rock to sword fight. God chose Moses who stuttered and was afraid of speaking, to deliver the people from Egypt and perform miracles. Jesus chose to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey. God qualifies whom he chooses, and he chose all of us and gave us each a specific purpose, and it’s up to us to determine how we are going to answer to our calling.
Obedience to God is all it takes. As we take steps toward finding our worth and identity in whose we are, we can continue to walk on with our heads held up, unafraid and ready.
Those two phrases, that I heard, that made me feel inadequate or insecure about myself, that I have dwelled on, have caused me to forget the numerous compliments, and genuine outpouring of appreciation and love I have been shown. Don’t discredit all the good things that have been said because of a couple of discouraging comments.
Don’t forget the bad, let it light your flame, AND don’t forget the good it will keep the fire burning.
You are enough. You are qualified. You have
and will continue to overcome so much! Light the flame, and don’t let it run out.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:13-16
